About Parkwoods
How is Parkwoods Wealth Partners different from other financial advisors?
We help families and business owners make confident financial decisions by connecting their money to what matters most. Our Purpose‑First Planning approach goes beyond investments – it’s about helping you live the life you want, support the people you love, and make a meaningful impact.
What is Purpose First Financial Planning?
It’s our way of making sure your financial plan starts with your values, not just your balance sheet. We help you define your goals, align your resources, and create a plan that supports the life you want today and in the future. Learn more about Purpose‑First Planning →
Who do you typically work with?
We work with individuals and families approaching or living in retirement, as well as business owners preparing for transition. Most of our clients have between $2–7 million in investable assets and want a long‑term partner who helps them bring order, clarity, and purpose to their finances.
Are you a fiduciary? What does that mean for me?
Yes. As fiduciaries, we’re legally and ethically obligated to act in your best interest at all times. That means transparent advice, no commissions, and recommendations made solely for your benefit.
Do I need to work with an advisor in my area?
No. We serve clients across the country through secure virtual meetings. Whether you’re nearby or several states away, our process is designed to make working together easy and personal.
Are you affiliated with any brokerage firms or insurance companies?
No. Parkwoods is an independent, fee‑only registered investment advisor. We don’t sell products or receive commissions, so our advice is always driven by what’s best for you.
Our Planning Process
What happens during a Clarity Call?
It’s a 20‑minute conversation to learn about your situation and what you’re hoping to accomplish. We’ll share how our planning process works and help you decide whether a deeper conversation makes sense. Schedule your Clarity Call →
What’s the next step after the Clarity Call?
If we both agree there’s a good fit, we’ll move to a Discovery Meeting. That’s where we get a complete picture of your finances and priorities so we can outline specific recommendations and next steps.
What does your financial planning process look like from start to finish?
We start with understanding your goals, then build a personalized plan covering investments, retirement income, tax strategy, estate considerations, and anything else that will impact your retirement. From there, we help you implement the plan and meet regularly to adjust as life changes.
How often do you meet with clients?
We continuously monitor our client’s portfolio holdings and the overall asset allocation strategy and hold regular progress meetings regarding their account and other wealth management issues, as necessary. You’ll always know where things stand and have a clear next step.
Do you coordinate with my CPA, attorney, or other professionals?
Yes – and in many cases, we are your tax team. Parkwoods includes a dedicated tax practice that provides integrated tax preparation and planning. We also collaborate with your outside professionals to ensure your full financial picture – investments, taxes, and estate plan – works together seamlessly. Tax services provided by Shore & Co. Parkwoods Wealth Partners do not provide legal advice. For legal matters, we coordinate with your attorney.
What if I’m not ready to share all my financial details yet?
That’s fine. The first conversation is just about understanding your goals and questions. We’ll only ask for detailed information when it’s actually needed to build your plan.
How We Invest
What does “evidence based investing” mean?
It means our recommendations are grounded in decades of academic research, not market predictions. We focus on what you can control – costs, diversification, and discipline – to give your portfolio the best chance of long‑term success. Learn more about our investment philosophy →
Do Parkwoods advisors actively trade or try to time the market?
No. We don’t believe anyone can consistently predict short‑term market movements. Instead, we follow a disciplined, long‑term investment approach designed to capture market returns efficiently.
How do you choose the funds or investments you recommend?
We use low‑cost, broadly diversified funds from respected providers such as Dimensional Fund Advisors and Vanguard. Your portfolio is tailored to your goals, time horizon, and tolerance for risk.
How do you manage risk, especially for people nearing retirement?
We focus on matching your investment strategy to your personal goals and withdrawal needs. That means balancing growth with stability, so you can stay invested through market cycles without jeopardizing your long‑term plan. See how we help investors stay confident →
Do you help with tax efficient or charitable investing strategies?
Yes. Tax planning and charitable giving are core parts of our process. We look at everything from Roth conversions and withdrawal sequencing to donor‑advised funds and asset location – structuring your portfolio across accounts to maximize after‑tax growth and long‑term impact. Tax services provided by Shore & Co.
How do you handle market downturns?
We help clients stay focused on their long‑term goals rather than short‑term headlines. Our disciplined, evidence‑based approach is built to weather volatility while keeping your plan on track.
Fees and Fiduciary Standards
How are you compensated?
We’re a fee‑only firm. Our compensation comes directly from the advisory fees our clients pay us – not from product sales or commissions. This structure keeps our interests aligned with yours.
What is Parkwoods’ minimum investment requirement?
We don’t have a hard minimum, but most new clients have at least $1 million in investable assets. If you’re not sure whether we’re the right fit, a short conversation can help you decide. Schedule your Clarity Call →
What’s included in your ongoing fee?
Your fee covers comprehensive financial planning, investment management, coordination with other professionals, and ongoing support from our advisory team. We’re here to help you make confident decisions every step of the way.
How do Parkwoods’ fees compare to other advisors?
Our fees are competitive with other independent fiduciary firms offering similar depth of planning and investment management. What sets us apart is the ongoing collaboration and proactive guidance you receive from a dedicated team.
Do you receive commissions or referral fees?
No. We don’t accept commissions, referral fees, or any other incentives. Our only source of revenue is the transparent fee you pay us.
