Jim and his wife Shannon are proud parents of three children – all accomplished athletes and students, including their oldest, who earned a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. A lifelong swimmer and self-described lifelong learner, Jim enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time on the California coast and in southern Europe.

Senior Wealth Advisor

Jim Corbeau, MBA, CFP®, CDFA

Jim Corbeau brings decades of experience in financial planning and investment management to Parkwoods Wealth Partners. The son of Dutch immigrants who settled in California in the early 1960s, Jim grew up near Santa Cruz and went on to study political science and economics at the University of California, Berkeley, where he also competed on the men’s swim team and represented the Netherlands in international competition. He later earned his MBA in finance and international business from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Jim spent a decade in Europe working as a merchant banker, advising companies and high-net-worth investors across a range of financial matters. When it came time to raise a family, he and Shannon returned to the U.S., and Jim turned his focus to independent, fee-only financial planning – an approach grounded in his belief that people are best served by an advisor who is experienced, credentialed, and fully committed to acting in their best interest.

Jim founded his own advisory practice before partnering with Terry Donahe in 2013 to form Springwater Wealth Management, serving clients across the West Coast and around the world. That practice is now part of Parkwoods Wealth Partners, where Jim continues to bring the same client-centered approach to financial planning and investment guidance.

Jim holds the CFP® and CDFA® designations. He has taught the Investments course in the Personal Financial Planning certificate program at UC Santa Cruz Extension and regularly presents to both public and professional audiences on planning and investment topics. Education runs deep in his family – his wife, sister, mother, and mother-in-law are or were all teachers.
