Kayla Matthews works closely with both clients and advisors to help ensure the mechanics of a financial plan are handled carefully and correctly. Her role focuses on opening new accounts, managing updates to existing accounts, and processing financial transactions – details that matter most when timing, accuracy, and follow-through are critical.

How do you help clients at Parkwoods?

I’m dedicated to making my clients’ lives easier. I take the time to research personalized solutions, make sure they have what they need, and complete requests promptly and accurately – with as little effort required from them as possible.

My role often involves coordinating multiple pieces at once, and I try to handle that complexity so clients don’t have to. When things are clear and organized, it helps clients feel confident that their requests are being handled properly.

What should clients expect when they work with you?

Clients should expect attentive, proactive, and reliable support. I want clients to feel comfortable reaching out, knowing their questions will be followed through on.

If I don’t have an immediate answer, I’m committed to finding it. That might mean digging into the details myself or leaning on the expertise of our broader team, but the goal is always the same – clear communication and timely, accurate solutions.

What does a good client experience look like in practice?

A good client experience goes well beyond investing and then moving on. For me, it means ongoing support across many areas of a client’s financial life, including tax planning, retirement planning, and legacy planning.

We revisit each client’s financial plan multiple times throughout the year. As their lives evolve, we check in to make sure their plan still aligns with their goals and make adjustments when needed. That ongoing attention helps clients stay on track and feel supported as circumstances change.

What kind of work happens behind the scenes that clients may not see?

A lot of behind-the-scenes work involves making sure financial requests are handled accurately, securely, and on time. One example is managing third-party monetary requests, such as wire transfers.

If a client is purchasing a home and needs funds wired to a title company, it’s critical that the money arrives on time and at the correct destination. I verify wiring instructions directly with the title company, initiate the wire, and then confirm that the funds have been received. That extra care helps prevent delays and gives clients peace of mind during time-sensitive situations.

Outside of work, I enjoy trying new restaurants, spending time at the lake, and spoiling my pups. I like getting out and doing things that feel relaxing and fun.

Those activities provide a nice balance to the more detailed, task-focused parts of my workday.

How do those activities help you recharge?

They give me a chance to step away and reset. Whether it’s being outdoors at the lake or enjoying a great meal, it helps me unwind and come back feeling refreshed.

That balance helps me stay focused and present for the clients and teammates I work with every day.
